In my opinion the situation with British/ English Ale is rather different:

I can buy some English Ale in a local deli shop but in general the style does not appeal to a lot of foreigners where the main criteria is for their beer to be as cold as possible.

Having said that British manufacturers do not appear to either interested or reluctant to market their products very well (English cheese is another good example which is quite rare to find). I have recently been involved in a local Food Expo. Plenty of products being promoted from US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain but nothing from the UK.

The UK produces almost twice as many varieties of cheese than France.
Not a lot of people know that.

Not true. It' s a rumour spread by the British cheese industry. At the last count France makes over 4000 different varieties, over 800 of which can be classed as AOC. This according to my local fromagier, who I know well and is a generally good fella. He limits his offerings to about 260 varieties alone..... he does acknowledge that the British make about 800 or so nowadays, and he is very cordial about British cheese in general. He actually sells four of them - Stilton, Montgomery, Stinking Bishop and some goats thing I can't recall. We both agree the majority of USA cheese is best for repairing tractor tyres....thought to be fair there is a nice white Vermont cheese similar to Wenslydale that is pretty nice if you can find a proper one.

In my local Auchan you will find a selection of bottled English ale - from London Pride to Spitfire.

England produces the best beer in the world. You never find an English ale in any other country in the world.

Why is that?

There is nothing better to start the day than a full English. Not sure my arteries or many foreigners that would agree with that though.

You seem to be carrying a little baggage from your brief excursion stateside Badger.

I love traditional British food and make a fantastic steak and kidney - but it's not one of the world's great cuisines is it now.

For many years it was dire because of post war shortages. It's not embraced the world and has some fantastic places to eat.

Yank food is a product of the huge range of nationalities that have moved there. .

Re: "All British food is bland"
I can't remember ever going to a foreign city and finding a British restaurant - unless it's fish and chips. French, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Japanese, Thai, Chinese even German in most places you go but not British.

Why is that?

Every American sit com talks about England and Warm Beer, when and what era in the past was that ?, I am past 40 and have no idea when there was a time people drank warm beer on purpose unless your an Alcoholic.
Was there a time when Pubs sold warm beer ever ?.
To be honest for a supposed friendly ally they can be right stupid gits.

If you buy microwave , canned , or anything to cook that isn't remotely fresh it all tastes like shit. If you look at peoples lifestyle in US and UK people have less time to cook a meal with fresh produce. French and German food is far better as I believe they still have Butchers , Bakers , Green grocers , farm shops and don't buy much mass produced Rubbish from mega malls. The British dishes themselves can be quite good its just the shit ingredients

Re: "All British food is bland"
It's not fuckin difficult, you slice the ring of white pudding up you put it in the frying pan you take it out when it's cooked and spread it with a knife on the bread. Hardly rocket science!

Hate the way American's say Herb and Oregano.

As has been said on stage before, Americans can be proud of one thing. Inventing the process of eating from a bucket at your local fast food restaurant tout comme un horse

Exactly, all them shitty North Cumberland sausages And all, are garbage.

White pudding is exceptional, 2 slices of toast Kerry gold butter then spread the White pudding across the toast 2 irish sausages and a fried egg. Fantastic
